Ton Capella (November 21, 1964, Terrassa – December 19, 2021, Matadepera) has been closely linked to Telstar. After joining the company in 1991 to drive the activity of the company in the foreign market and the initiation of its export activities in 1992, he drove a solid internationalization process leading the company to operate in more than 100 countries. Appointed CEO of the company in 1994 and President in 2004, under the leadership of Ton Capella the company experienced a turning point in its evolution culminating in a rapid business growth between 1998 and 2008 that, by virtue of an acquisitions strategy, consolidated a phase of strong international expansion, converting Telstar into a business group with a thorough presence in countries throughout the world such as China, the United States, United Kingdom, France, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, India, Bangladesh, Italy, Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Sweden and Estonia.
Ton Capella also led many of the milestones that laid the foundations for Telstar’s strong evolution into the future when the company decided to revise its strategy and change its role from that of an equipment manufacturer to one of providers of global, integrated solutions in the life sciences sector. Its ability to develop its own technologies and design integrated process equipment, along with the incorporation of engineering, building, and consulting services in the overall offering of the company, have made Telstar a unique international company with the capacity to offer global solutions through its own technologies and resources.
After the integration process of Telstar into the Azbil Group in 2013, the company maintained its brand to lead the Life Science Engineering division of the Japanese corporation under the presidency and direction of Ton Capella who successfully led the transition process. Since 2017, Ton Capella has been the Chairman of Azbil Telstar.
An Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and PDD a Business Management from the IESE Business School, Ton Capella was actively connected to local institutions. Appointed president of the Egarsat board of directors in 2010, he has also participated in the government team of the Terrassa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
